So I have used parallels with my mac mini for year but decided to put it on my new Retina. It is a great piece of soft are and works perfectly, including a number of games if setup correctly) except for two not so minor glitches. I'd recommend VMWare Fusion. It's fast and can integrate Windows applications into OSX. If you're looking at running applications like Photoshop or games though I'd suggest you use Bootcamp, but for smaller less-intense programs WMWare would be fine. Parallels Desktop 13 runs Windows and other operating systems in a virtual machine alongside your Mac apps. It's a good option for those who still rely on certain Windows apps for their business, or gamers who can't live without a favorite Windows game. The good news, from Parallels perspective is that Oracle buying Sun made me look at Parallels more closely! So – what is Parallels Desktop for Mac? Just like VirtualBox and VMWare, if you want to run MS Windows applications you either need to dual boot your Mac using Bootcamp, or you need some sort of ‘virtualisation’ product.
