Parallels For Mac Powerbook G4

Parallels and GE SupraEkey. Discussion in 'Parallels Desktop for Mac' started by elektradw@cox.net. It worked fine on the G4 but wont connect at all on the MacBookPro running Mac OS 10.4.9 and Parallels with Windows XP Professional. Powerbook G4 and Virtual PC. My guess it is probably driver related. I'm currently using a PowerBook G4 but plan to updgrade soon to a MacBook. I currently use Virtual PC for a few Windows apps I use which are not available for Mac. New Tech Parallels and Perils: PowerBook 5300 and MacBook Pro, Paul Brierley, The 'Book Beat, 2006.02.06. Ten years ago, Apple's PowerBook 5300 was known for flaming batteries, sluggish performance, and underperforming emulation. I'm currently using a PowerBook G4 but plan to updgrade soon to a MacBook. I currently use Virtual PC for a few Windows apps I use which are not available for Mac. My question is.does Parallels access to the MacBook's AirPort and Bluetooth? I have a Powerbook G4 running 10.5.8. How can I put Linux on there? Boot camp? Anything? Also, where can I get a free download of Linux?

You can see which available linux distros work on your ppc computer here: distrowatch.com

I'd recommend Ubuntu. Download the ISO to your computer, burn it onto a CD using Disk Utility and reboot with the CD in the drive while holding down c to boot from the CD.

I don't have any first hand experience, but here are some interesting sources of information:

Parallels For Mac Activation Key

The Ubuntu guide is more focused on the installation of Ubuntu itself, while the Gentoo guide contains lots of information on how to do things by hand. This is useful because from time to time GUI utilities can cause problems which sometimes may not be easily solved.
